Why DVC Works For My Entire Family

When my husband and I got married, my parents gifted us a stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Old Key West Resort for our honeymoon in 2000. Having been Members from early on, they often shared with us the benefits of Disney Vacation Club. But once we experienced it, we knew we had to be part of the Disney Vacation Club^® family.

 

As a young couple just starting out, we quickly saw the benefits of a home away from home and affordable family vacations year after year. In March of 2001, we were welcomed to our Home Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Before having kids, Disney Vacation Club gave us vacations that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise, including week-long stays at Disney properties in Florida and California. We have also been able to use our Vacation Points for Disneyland Paris, Disney Cruise Line cruises cruises and exchanges through hotel exchange for stays in Austria, Colorado, and California.

 

But once we had kids, being a Member had so many more benefits for our family. Having the variety of options of Disney Vacation Club Resorts both in location and amenities has changed how we vacation. As a family of five, Disney Vacation Club Membership* has given us affordable vacations year after year. But the amenities available at all Disney Vacation Club Resorts have made these vacations easy and full of lasting memories.

 

As a family of five, we do not fit comfortably in traditional hotel rooms. But with the options of a Deluxe Studio or Villas, we not only all sleep comfortably, but we also have space to gather for board game time after a fun Disney day. The kitchenettes and kitchens have been so helpful for light breakfasts, snacks, and family meals from the time our kids were early rising toddlers to now growing, and forever-hungry, preteen twins and teen. The kitchenettes and full-sized kitchens have all of the gadgets and gizmos we need anytime there is a rumbly in their tumblies, but we also love the onsite grills for a barbecue meal during one of our pool days.

 

In-room washer and dryers in our Villas or onsite when we stay in a Deluxe Studio has been a huge help for our large family. It typically means we pack less, bring fewer suitcases, and have more room in our luggage for our Disney souvenirs.

 

Our Disney Vacation Club Membership has also afforded us the opportunity for multigenerational gatherings. Our extended family of 11 was able to stay together in a Grand Villa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Kidani Villas celebrating my father’s 70th birthday. We have also celebrated holidays like Christmas, where by day we visited the parks and in the evening, we decked the halls in our Villa to get ready for Santa Claus while the scent of Christmas cookies baking in our Villa kitchen filled the air.

 

Whether we stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, or one of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland California, we simply love being immersed in the magic with the comforts of home. With the added flexibility of using our Vacation Points at Disney destinations and beyond, Disney Vacation Club has truly given us the world.
