DVC Membership Means Flexibility
From family reunions to romantic getaways or EPCOT festivals with friends, the best type of Disney Vacation Club accommodations for your family often depends on who you’re traveling with and what you’re celebrating. Luckily, the flexibility of DVC Membership means that you can always find a resort and room that fits your needs as perfectly as Cinderella’s glass slipper. No matter where you choose to hang your hat (or your Mickey Mouse ears), it’s sure to feel like home!
I first visited Walt Disney World Resort in 1981 and was enchanted from my very first glimpse of Cinderella Castle. However, it wasn’t until I became a mom to two spunky princesses that annual Disney vacations became a family tradition. During our visits, I kept drifting toward Disney Vacation Club kiosks for information on Membership. We knew we wanted to continue enjoying Disney vacations for years to come, and DVC was the perfect path to make this dream a reality. It’s a decision we’ve never regretted! While we love to come “Home” to Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows–where I first stayed on that early 80s vacation–we’ve discovered so much to love at every DVC resort, from oceanside adventures at Aulani to savanna sunsets at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas and time with turtles at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.
My husband and I like a Duo Studio when it’s just the two of us, but when it’s our ‘Ohana of four, we usually choose to stay in a Deluxe Studio. These can be found at nearly all DVC resorts–they sleep 4 to 5 and are perfect for a smaller family or a couple. The second bathroom in the studios at the Polynesian (also found at a few other resorts!) is a necessity with our two now-teenage girls, and my youngest still loves to snuggle up for the night in the secret sleeper bed. The kitchenettes in the studios let us fuel up with a quick breakfast and some much-needed coffee before heading out to conquer the theme parks.
However, as Lilo and Stitch remind us, “family means no one gets left behind!”. We often travel to Walt Disney World with grandparents, cousins, friends, and teammates, and we need more room to enjoy the magic together. For a girls’ trip, a 1-Bedroom Villa is perfect to allow for 4 to 5 besties to bunk together. Meanwhile, the 2-Bedroom Villas and 3-Bedroom Grand Villas are my go-to for larger groups to give everyone their own space–it’s easy to bank or borrow Vacation Points to make these trips a reality! I love having a full kitchen for family dinners or whipping up some late-night brownies, and the living space brings everyone together to enjoy a movie night or just unwind while we talk about the highlights of our Disney day.
As we look ahead to celebrating graduations and other family milestones, the options for Disney Vacation Club adventures are endless. I am sure you will find the resort and room type that are practically perfect for your family–and you will have a wonderful time doing it. Stay Magical!
