Family’s Holiday Memories/Traditions at Disney w/DVC
The December holidays are always a special time for our family to be together, and over the years, we’ve been fortunate to celebrate with a little extra pixie dust, thanks to our Disney Vacation Club Membership. Wherever we call “Home” for the holidays, DVC fills our experiences with magic and memories we cherish all year long!
Not long after we first joined DVC, we attended a Moonlight Magic event during the holiday season. This Member-exclusive evening allowed us to explore EPCOT after dark, enjoying our favorite attractions alongside complimentary seasonal treats, unique entertainment, and special character greetings. The highlight of that evening was when my then-10-year-old met Duffy, her absolute favorite character, dressed as Santa. The joy on her face as she hugged him tightly and shared her holiday wishes was priceless, making for a memorable photo we’ll treasure forever.

A must-do at Walt Disney World Resort is attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Since our girls were very young, this festive celebration at Magic Kingdom Park has been an essential part of our holiday traditions. There’s nothing quite like watching snow fall over Main Street, U.S.A., taking in the stunning decorations, and enjoying cocoa and cookies with our loved ones. My favorite part of this beloved seasonal event is Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, featuring cherished characters dressed in their festive best. After the parade, we secure a prime spot for Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show, which illuminates the skies over Cinderella Castle while our favorite carols play!
On the West Coast, Disneyland Resort transforms into a festive wonderland during the holidays, complete with seasonal attractions and special character experiences. At the top of my DVC bucket list is a cruise on “it’s a small world” Holiday, where the classic ride receives a delightful holiday makeover featuring decorations from around the world. The enchanting holiday fireworks show over Sleeping Beauty Castle is another highlight, illuminating the night sky with dazzling colors that perfectly capture the joy of the season.
This year, we’ll be traveling beyond the reef to visit Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa in Hawai‘i, where the holiday spirit takes on a unique tropical flair. We heard our first “Welcome Home” as Disney Vacation Club Members at Aulani, and it holds a special place in our hearts! The Hawaiian holidays at this DVC resort beautifully blend both Hawaiian and Disney traditions. Members can partake in festive crafts and activities for the whole family, snap photos with characters in their best holiday attire, and explore the spectacular art and architecture of this unique Disney outpost when you’re not relaxing at the Waikolohe Valley pools or snorkeling at Rainbow Reef.
As our girls grow older, our holiday experiences and traditions continue to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in our love for Disney. With every trip, our Disney Vacation Club Membership not only provides us with a home away from home but also strengthens our family’s connection through shared moments of joy, laughter, and holiday magic. I hope DVC helps you create your own enchanting holiday memories and traditions at Disney destinations around the world. Happy Holidays!
