Bonjour, Bianca! Welcome to planDisney. We’re so glad you found us!
It sounds like you’re getting ready to lace up those sneakers and go from mile zero to hero during the
runDisney Springtime Surprise 10-Miler! Comme c’est excitant! For me, one of the hardest parts of race day is waking up extra early—Sleeping Beauty, you won’t be! Since races typically start at 5:00 AM, I set my alarm for 2:30 AM and aim to be on a bus by 3:00 AM. runDisney recommends arriving no later than 4:00 AM, but if you’d like to snap a few character photos before the race, plan to get there even earlier.
One of the best perks of staying at a Disney Resort hotel is complimentary race transportation. Buses will begin running at 2:30 AM and will drop you off at EPCOT, where you’ll go through security before heading to the starting area. It usually takes me about 15-20 minutes to get through security and to my corral. A couple of weeks before race weekend, runDisney will release the official transportation schedule in the
Digital Expo & Event Guide on their website under the Runner Info tab. You’ll also find race transportation details posted in your resort lobby. Pro tip: snap a photo of the info so you have it handy!
One of my favorite parts of runDisney races is stopping for character photos along the course! If you want to capture all the magical moments, consider purchasing
Memory Maker in advance, which includes all race photos from the start, finish, and on-course locations. You can also link your bib number to your account to view and purchase photos on
MyDisneyPhotoPass.com or the
My Disney Experience app. Many character stops will have both a Disney PhotoPass photographer and a Cast Member who can take pictures with your own camera.
And of course, costumes are de rigueur! Springtime Surprise Weekend is all about fun and theming, and since this year’s race is The Incredibles, you’re sure to see plenty of Mrs. Incredible, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone running alongside you. Just remember… no capes!
As Hercules says, Bianca, get ready to “Go the Distance!” If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to
stop by again. Au revoir et bon courage!
