We are travelling with a severe peanut allergy and will be avoiding all “may contain peanut” foods (tree nuts are ok). What snacks/ treats are peanut safe? And are there any restaurants we should avoid? We are not comfortable with peanut dishes on the menu

Hi there, Justyna! Welcome to planDisney. I’m so glad you stopped by!

It sounds like you have an exciting trip ahead, and I completely understand wanting to plan ahead when traveling with a peanut allergy. As a mom of an adult son with both peanut and tree nut allergies who has been visiting Disney Parks for years, I know firsthand how reassuring it is to find safe dining options.

The good news is that Walt Disney World takes food allergies very seriously and does its best to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. While there isn’t a specific list of restaurants to avoid, all dining locations, whether quick service or table service, have allergy-friendly menus and trained Cast Members ready to assist.

Here are a few tips to help you navigate dining with a peanut allergy:
    1. Reach out to Disney’s Special Diets team at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com no earlier than 14 days before your trip if you have specific concerns about meals.
    2. Note your allergy when making dining reservations in the My Disney Experience app, and always remind the Cast Members when you arrive.
    3. Ask to speak with a chef or allergy-trained Cast Member at table-service restaurants. They can guide you through safe options and discuss any cross-contamination concerns.
    4. Quick service and snack kiosks have ingredient binders or labels available upon request. I’ve always found Cast Members to be incredibly helpful when checking ingredients for my son!
    5. You’re welcome to bring your own food into the parks if that gives you extra peace of mind. If you have snacks that need to be kept cool, small coolers are allowed (just be sure to check Disney’s size guidelines in the Property Rules).
    6. Be prepared with necessary medications, including an epinephrine auto-injector, just in case. My son recently learned this lesson firsthand when he accidentally dipped a chip into my salsa without realizing it contained nuts. Thankfully, we had his EpiPen and Benadryl on hand!

Some Peanut-Free Snacks at Walt Disney World:
        •    Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bars
        •    Churros
        •    Popcorn
        •    Pickles
        •    Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade
        •    Dole Whip
        •    Mickey Pretzels

Even though food allergies can make dining out feel stressful, Disney truly goes above and beyond to help guests with special dietary needs. With a little planning, I hope you’ll find plenty of delicious and safe options to enjoy on your trip!

Wishing you a vacation filled with magic and peace of mind, Justyna! If you have any other questions, I’m happy to help.
