Hi Amy, and welcome to planDisney! It looks like you’re arriving in September, which is a truly magical time of year at Walt Disney World Resort. Not only does the fun, festive fall decor start to appear, but special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival are also happening. It couldn’t be a better time of year to visit!
I know the new
transportation changes at Disney Springs can raise some questions while they are new, but we are here at planDisney to help you navigate those policies. In order to board a complimentary Disney bus at Disney Springs, you must be a registered Guest at a Disney resort hotel or have a reservation for dining or an Enchanting Extra within the next two hours. With that said, you would not be able to board a bus to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and walk to Magic Kingdom Park.
Let’s figure out some alternatives for you! Your first option would be
Minnie Van™ Service, which you can set up in the Lyft app. Minnie Vans are driven by Disney Cast Members and can accommodate up to six passengers in one vehicle. They can also provide car seats. What I love most about Minnie Vans when traveling to Magic Kingdom is that they drop you off in the bus loop, right near the main entrance to the park. This is the most convenient option and the most direct to Magic Kingdom. A traditional rideshare will need to drop you off at the Transportation & Ticket Center.
Alternatively, you could schedule an early dinner at one of the resort hotels on the monorail loop, which includes
Disney’s Contemporary Resort,
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. There are many wonderful
dining options at these resort hotels, and it would be a lovely experience to have dinner before heading over to the party. Then after your meal, you could take the monorail to Magic Kingdom.
Amy, I’m sending you wishes for many magical moments during your visit! I hope I’ve given you some alternatives that will make your transportation go smoothly. If you have any more questions, come back and see us at planDisney. My friends and I are always here to help make your vacation planning more magical!
See you on Main Street,
Casey
