Welcome to planDisney, Fatima! This is such a great question. One of the best parts of visiting the Disneyland Resort is that there are attractions for all types of parkgoers! I am happy to make some recommendations on attractions you should try (and a few to possibly skip) while visiting.
In Disneyland, there are a host of fun low-thrill attractions that showcase Disney creativity while not being too intense. Many of the attractions in
Fantasyland or
Mickey’s ToonTown are both charming and delightful. However, you may want to skip the Matterhorn, which is a roller coaster. In
New Orleans Square, the
Haunted Mansion is an iconic dark ride that is considered a classic. Meanwhile, in
Pirates of the Caribbean, there are two small drops in darkness; however, it is otherwise a slow-moving boat ride. If you are looking to avoid attractions with a high-thrill factor, I would suggest skipping Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Disney California Adventure has some charming attractions you may want to check out. The
Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure and
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! are both charming dark rides that take you through the story of their respective films.
Toy Story Midway Mania and
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure are great interactive experiences. And while
Soarin’ Across America does lift you off the ground, you experience the ride in a gentle hang gliding motion. However, I would not recommend riding the Incredicoaster, Goofy’s Sky School, or Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! as these are considered some of the most intense attractions in either park.
To help you prepare for your visit, I would suggest downloading the
Disneyland App. The park map in the app has filters which showcase the attractions by thrill level. This may help you decide which level is most comfortable for you so you have the most magical day at either park. (For example, focusing on “Slow Rides” and possibly avoiding attractions with the “Thrill Rides,” “Spinning,” and “Big Drops.”
