Hello Friend, and welcome to planDisney! Your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth is just around the corner. Let's make sure you're all set for a fun-filled day!
The FastPass system of years past has transformed into something new. Now, Lightning Lanes offer access to a shorter queue at many popular attractions, allowing you to spend less time in line. There are three types of Lightning Lane passes – each one is available for an additional cost. I'll share a little about each!
First up is the
Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This covers multiple popular attractions. You can add it when purchasing a ticket on the
Disneyland website, or you can get it in the
Disneyland mobile app on the day of your visit after entering the park, subject to availability. You'd select one attraction at a time, choosing an arrival window and then scanning the code at the attraction entrance. Once you redeem your selection (or after two hours have passed), you can make your next selection. The cost starts at $34 per ticket per day (subject to change). If you want to fit a lot of attractions into your visit, I highly recommend this option. My family buys it whenever we're at the park with a friend or family member visiting from out of town.
The next option is the
Lightning Lane Single Pass. This is currently available for two of the most in-demand attractions – Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers. You'd book these separately on the day of your visit in the mobile app. The price varies by date and attraction.
Lastly, the newest option is the
Lightning Lane Premier Pass. This is similar to the multi pass, except that you don't need to select arrival windows. Instead, you'd scan into the attractions when you'd like. The single pass attractions are also included. The price on this varies, and availability is very limited. It can be purchased in the mobile app up to seven days before a visit.
Keep in mind that the
Disneyland mobile app is required for any of these Lightning Lane options. The app is free to use and includes other features that add a level of convenience to a park visit. I use it to check wait times, mobile order food, see where and when to meet Characters, and more.
If you prefer not to purchase a Lightning Lane pass, make sure you're at the park right when it opens. In my experience, the first two hours after the park opens are a fantastic time to ride a few of the bigger attractions. The same is typically true during parades and nighttime entertainment, as well as in the last hour before the park closes.
