Heya, hiya, Gabriela! Welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Inspire Key holder, I’m so excited to answer your question about renewing your and your husband’s Magic Key passes! I’m glad you’re planning ahead—after all, we wouldn’t be called “planDisney” if we didn’t love these sorts of things!
The renewal window opens 30 days before the expiration date of your Magic Key pass. Since your pass expires on March 9, 2025, that means your renewal period is open now! Your husband's pass, however, is almost in sync… but not quite. His renewal window opens just after yours closes, meaning you won't be able to renew them simultaneously. I also wouldn’t recommend letting yours expire if you’re trying to line up renewal dates, as I recently learned that the Inspire Key is no longer available for purchase at the time I’m writing this.
But don't you worry, Gabriela! Just like Woody always says, "You've Got a Friend in Me", and we have options! Even if your passes are renewed separately, you should still be able to consolidate them into one account. I’m more than happy to walk through how to do that, but I’d first like to share a quick word of caution here. If you were to move your husband’s Magic Key pass into your Disney account, he would no longer be able to take advantage of his applicable discounts when he’s logged into his own account in the
Disneyland mobile app. For example, if he uses the
mobile food and beverage ordering feature in the app, his discounts would not automatically appear at checkout since his Magic Key would no longer be associated with his account. He could still show his pass to a Cast Member when making dining and merchandise purchases in person at eligible shops and restaurants to receive his discounts, as long as the name on his payment method matches the name on his Magic Key pass. This is certainly an option, but I wanted to make you aware that he’d lose his ability to apply discounts in the app if you consolidate both passes into one account.
The other option is to keep your Magic Key passes in your separate accounts, but link them through the app so you can continue making park reservations and Lighting Lane selections together. It sounds like this may be how your accounts are currently set up. But just in case they’re not, here’s how to do that: Open the Disneyland app, tap the menu button (three-lined icon at the bottom right), and select “My Tickets & Passes”. From there, tap the plus (+) sign in the top right and select “Link Tickets & Passes”. You can then scan his ticket with the camera or type the ID number manually.
Now that we’ve got that squared away, I’ll share with you how to move a pass from one account to another if you’d still like to go that route. You'll need the help of a real-life fairy godparent—a Cast Member! I’d recommend starting with the
Magic Key Holders phone line. If they can't work their magic remotely, a visit to
Guest Relations at the resort is your next best bet. Since you're an Inspire Key holder, I'm guessing you're a Disneyland regular, so popping in should be a breeze! I had a similar situation last year, and they sorted it out in just a matter of minutes!
No matter which path you choose, Gabriela, I hope your Disneyland adventures continue to be filled with magic and wonder! Let me know if any other questions pop up—we're always here to help at planDisney. See you in the parks!
