What’s the best way to plan theme park visits? Which should be visited first? I’m staying at the Drury plaza, how do I get to to the parks?

    Hi Simon!

    Welcome to planDisney!

First, let’s chat about how you’ll get to the parks. I recommend looking into transportation options through your hotel. Once you’re on Disney World property, you’ll be more than welcome to use Disney World transportation, but oftentimes, off-property hotels provide their own shuttles to the theme parks.

It's good to note that as an off-property guest, you will not be able to take transportation from Disney Springs to the Disney World resorts at this time, but you can take all other modes of transportation (for example, you can use the Monorail to get from Magic Kingdom to Epcot).

As far as planning your theme park days go, if your itinerary allows, I personally like to do a couple of days at the park, then take a rest day at the resort. That way, we can relax and regroup, so we make the most of our time at the parks without getting too overtired.

When choosing which day to visit which park, I base that on my priorities, as well as what my plans are for Lightning Lanes. If I’m going to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, I plan the parks with harder-to-get Lightning Lanes (like Hollywood Studios) for later on in my trip to give myself a better chance at getting the Lightning Lane return times I want.

I also think about how I want the vibe of the trip to feel. If I have a park hopper ticket or plan to visit Magic Kingdom more than once, I think it’s kind of fun to start and end the trip at that park! It feels so quintessential Disney! Starting the trip with a glimpse of Cinderella Castle and ending the trip with Happily Ever After fireworks adds some magic in there for my family.

Finally, just to give myself some more information on what to expect during my park days, I’ll search for crowd calendars online. While I never take them for exactly what they say (because it’s just a prediction after all!), it’s nice to be prepared for what kinds of crowds to expect at each park.

I know I couldn’t answer your question completely since a lot of it comes down to personal preference, but I hope that gave you some guidance! If you have any other questions as you continue to plan, feel free to come back and visit us.
