Welcome to planDisney, Shawn!
Your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth is in a little more than a week! It looks like you'll be getting here on Valentine's Day! If you're looking for something sweet to celebrate with your wife, I recommend looking at the
Disney Food Blog's Foodie Guide for Valentine's Day! There are some really lovely treats available this year that are sure to sweep anyone off their feet. Many of these sweets will be available in the days after Valentine's Day as well.
Ahh, the teenage years at Disney World! Your son and his friend are going to have a great time doing their own thing at the theme parks! I love this rite of passage -- and I highly recommend having your son make his own
My Disney Experience account. As Rafiki says, "It is time." Your son will be able to have a little extra freedom with his own My Disney Experience account on the App. Checking wait times, mobile ordering food, looking at parade schedules, and more will all be accessible to him. This will also make your life and vacation easier, Shawn! (And we're all for making your life and vacation easier here at planDisney!)
While your son and his friend are off gallivanting through the parks, this could be a perfect time for you and your wife to enjoy a table service meal together! My husband and I love
Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary Resort! This charming restaurant has a menu that will knock your socks off. Here are my dinner favorites if I had to choose: Baby Iceberg Wedge Salad or Bacon & Eggs for an appetizer. 12-oz Roasted Prime Rib or Vegetable "Wellington" (my favorite Disney dish ever!) for the main course (oh, and also get the Flight of all 5 Sauces). Au Gratin Potatoes or Creamed Spinach for a side. Seasonal Cheesecake or Sea Salt Turtle Crème Brûlée for dessert... I think I'm going to need to make another reservation for Steakhouse 71 again SOON!
Shawn, I hope your trip is memorable! If you have additional questions, you know where to find us!
See ya real soon,
Allyn
