Melissa,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a fantastic event, and puts you in that holiday mood, even a month before the actual big day! But you are right, on dates when the party is not being held, the crowd levels in the Magic Kingdom do seem to swell a bit more than the rest of the week.
It makes sense, of course. Those who are not purchasing these special event tickets want to plan their Magic Kingdom visits on dates where they can stay into the evening, as opposed to leaving around 6 p.m. For our upcoming trips this year, we are going to
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but we are choosing not to go to the Christmas party. We have been to both, and love them both, but decided to go with just one, this time around. On that second trip, we too are planning to make our visits to the Magic Kingdom on dates when the party is not being held.
BONUS ADVICEIf your plans make it necessary to visit the Magic Kingdom on a special event day, don't worry about it! We have had plenty of great days where we enjoy a park until around 5, and then we head off to a resort-based dining experience, like
'Ohana, or the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. With the first, you can score some great seats to watch the evening's fireworks, and with the latter, you get an entertaining stage show. With either, you get a great meal!
