Hi there Danielle, and welcome to planDisney!
Firstly, I have to applaud you for not only wanting to celebrate your birthday in style but by outwardly displaying it through the outfit you have planned! As a December-baby you've probably experienced your share of festive fun around your birthday but when you're
celebrating it during the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort for the first time, it just feels extra magical. Now whether you're set to attend
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom Park or the new
Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios, here's some of my personal insight on deciding the appropriate attire to wear:
- I've definitely seen my share of dresses in and around the Theme Parks, especially whenever the always exquisitely-dressed Dapper Day crowd descends upon Walt Disney World Resort for their Holiday Outing. Now while dresses may be permitted throughout your day within the Theme Parks or at separately-ticketed events, it's important to take note of the official policy for guest attire.
- For example, if your ideal birthday dress is something that might be considered a costume - it would not be permitted. (This is why you don't see anyone 14 years of age or older strolling about the Theme Parks in full-length gowns that resemble those worn by my dear Princess friends!) This currently also includes anything that drags or touches the ground as well as any dresses that can be considered "wedding attire" at the discretion of Cast Members and park management. In addition, anything with several layers may be subject to scrutiny by the security Cast Members as you pass through their screenings at each of the Theme Park entrances.
- However I did check with a Guest Relations Cast Member who let me know that if what you intend to wear doesn't go against any of the attire policies, you should be free to live your best birthday life in your desired dress. (Just be aware that these policies can be subject to change without prior notice, and it's always good to have a Plan B outfit ready just in case.)
Don't forget to proudly wear a Celebration Button that lets Cast Members know that you're celebrating your birthday; I often snag these from Guest Relations or at the Front Desk of my Disney Resort Hotel. For that extra bit of birthday magic I recommend
an experience from the Enchanting Extras Collection which can include
booking a Capture Your Moment photo session to have some stunning shots with the beautiful festive décor as your backdrop, or
having a special birthday cake delivered during your meal at select dining locations!
In the meantime, I recommend keeping an eye on
the Disney Parks Blog for all of the festive offerings as they are announced so you can get a glimpse of what you can expect around your birthday. We're also always happy to help
provide our best tips, tricks and advice for anything else ahead of your celebratory trip here at planDisney!
Wishing you all the best on your birthday quest to be well-dressed!
