Welcome to planDisney! I'm thrilled to answer your questions about a couple of my favorite places to relax at Walt Disney World -- the
Dahlia and
Barcelona lounges in the Gran Destino Tower at the
Coronado Springs Resort.
You certainly are welcome to visit both lounges whether or not you are a guest at Coronado Springs. My family stays at this resort often, and we like to end a day in the parks with a nightcap and an order of warm churros at Dahlia, which has a fabulous nighttime view of the sparkling lights around Disney property. Sometimes, you can catch a view of fireworks, too.
Barcelona is a treat any time of day. Its coffee and pastry selection at breakfast is to die for. And we love the Spanish-influenced snacks and the range of cocktails and mocktails it offers. The Gran Gin Tonic is a particular favorite. And the beautiful glass mosaic always reminds us of our visit to Barcelona, Spain.
If you are coming to Coronado from the Dolphin, a rideshare is probably your most efficient means of transportation. It's only about a 10-minute drive, and rideshare vehicles drop you right in front of the lobby of Gran Destino Tower. (If you want to take Disney transportation from the Dolphin to Coronado Springs, the best route usually would be to make your way to Hollywood Studios by foot, Friendship Boat or Skyliner and catch a Coronado Springs bus there.)
You are correct that there is a recent change to the policy on who can access resort buses from Disney Springs. To enter the bus area, you must show proof that you are a guest at a hotel in the
Disney Resorts Collection, which includes the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shade of Green, or you must have a reservation for dining or a special experience at one of the resorts.
Speaking of special experiences: Since you are interested in the lounges at Coronado Springs, can I also recommend
Sangria University? It's a delightful
Enchanting Extra, held on Saturdays and Sundays at
Toledo -- Tapas, Steak & Seafood. You learn about sangria, sample different varieties and, as the "final exam," create your own signature sangria. It's a blast.
