Hello! For the upcoming RunDisney marathon, will my parents be able to take their mobility scooters on the early morning buses to the start line? We're staying at Boardwalk Villas, and it looks like the buses are the only way to get to the start line.

Hi Kristen, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you’re gearing up for an incredible adventure at the Walt Disney World Marathon! This event is my favorite runDisney race—it’s packed with unforgettable character stops, magical on-course entertainment, and all the pixie dust you need to keep going.

I love that your parents want to join you at the start line! Having loved ones cheering you on can make all the difference, especially during those tough miles. I checked with a runDisney Cast Member for you, and here’s what I learned: If your parents can navigate the steps of a Mears motor coach, their ECV scooters can be stored in the luggage compartment underneath the bus. The Cast Member also mentioned that some motor coaches have lifts, but they weren’t certain if these lifts can accommodate ECVs specifically. I recommend stopping by the runDisney Runner Relations desk at the Health & Fitness Expo to confirm accessible transportation options for your parents—it’s always good to double-check!

For the ultimate chEAR squad experience, your parents can sign up for the live online runner tracking in the Digital Event Guide (available soon). This is a great way to keep up with your progress throughout the race. And if they want to spectate along the course, Disney’s BoardWalk around mile 24 is a perfect spot. It’s one of the most challenging parts of the marathon, and seeing their smiling faces could be just the boost you need to finish strong!

To help you spot them in the crowd, I suggest they bring bright, neon-colored posterboard signs or even light-up batons—anything to stand out in the sea of spectators. A little creativity can go a long way!

As Hercules says, get ready to “go the distance,” Kristen! Wishing you a magical race weekend, and who knows—maybe I’ll see you out on the course. You’ve got this!
