Hi Brendan, and welcome to planDisney! Thankfully, linking tickets is pretty straightforward once you know where to look.
The easiest way for your family members to access and manage their own tickets is through the
Disneyland app. Once they download the app onto their mobile device, they’ll want to sign in or create their own Disney account. From there, they can link their tickets directly to their app in just a few steps.
To do this, they should tap the menu button (the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the app) and select “My Tickets & Passes.” Next, they’ll tap the plus sign in the upper right corner and choose “Link Tickets & Passes.” At that point, they can either manually enter the ticket barcode number or simply scan the barcode directly from your phone using their camera. Once linked, they’ll be able to access their ticket, theme park reservation, and entry barcode right from their own device, which can make park entry and
Lightning Lane scanning much smoother throughout the day.
One important thing to know is that linking the ticket to another person’s phone does not remove it from yours. Multiple members of your party can still view and help manage the same tickets, which is especially helpful for families coordinating plans together while hopping between
Disneyland Park and
Disney California Adventure Park.
And speaking of planning together, you can manage Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections for the entire group from one phone, even after everyone links their tickets individually. In fact, I usually recommend having one designated “Lightning Lane captain” for the day to help keep return times coordinated for the whole party.
There are just a couple of key details to remember. First, Guests must physically scan into either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure before Lightning Lane return times can be booked for them. Second, once a Lightning Lane selection has been made, eligible Guests can book another experience either after redeeming that selection or once 120 minutes have passed since the reservation was made (whichever comes first). I always like setting a quick reminder on my phone so I don’t miss the next booking window while grabbing a snack or watching the Dapper Dans roll down Main Street, U.S.A.
Brendan, I hope this helps make managing your family’s Disneyland day feel a little easier. A little preparation ahead of time can go a long way toward smoother mornings and more time enjoying attractions, snacks, and nighttime spectaculars together. If any other questions pop up while planning your visit, please stop by planDisney again. We’d be delighted to help.
May your family have a Disneyland adventure filled magical memories together!
