Today I modified at 7 months BCL my Home resort to Poly for April 2025 reservation. I had to borrow points from my 2026 March Use Year to complete even though I have expiring points in my 2025 year I’m not sure why, as I may now lose points?

Hi there, Carol. It's nice to see you again at planDisney! I'm happy to help with your "pointed" question regarding your updated Disney Vacation Club reservation. Let's get right to it!

I'm so pleased that you could modify your 2025 reservation after our last chat--Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is such a great spot. Admittedly, I am a little biased as it's our family's Home Resort, but you certainly can't go wrong with a stay just across the water from Magic Kingdom Park!

As for the Vacation Points used for the reservation, there are a couple of scenarios that might necessitate borrowing from your 2026 Use Year. For starters, a reservation for a Deluxe Studio at the Polynesian requires more points than one at Disney's Beach Club Villas.  However, without knowing all the details of your Membership and the status of points from various years, I'm only speculating. Your source of truth should be Member Services, where they can pull up the details of your Membership, walk you through the transaction, and explain how points were used.

A reservation beginning in April 2025 falls into your 2025 Use Year (with points allotted on March 1, 2025). Points from your 2024 Use Year expire on February 28, 2025, unless you bank them by October 31, 2024. Keep in mind that any points that were banked or borrowed into the 2024 Use Year cannot be moved again and will expire on 2/28/25. The same would apply for any one-time-use points that were purchased for a booking within your 2024 Use Year--they would also expire at the end of February 2025.

Carol, I'm sorry I couldn't give you an exact answer to your question, but I strongly suggest contacting Member Services to verify how points were used for your booking. Thanks again for visiting planDisney, and please don't hesitate to stop back again.
