I bought 2 resale DVC contracts recently. I was told they would both have points for 2025 use year. Well one of them has points for 2024 use year and 0 points for 2025 use year. Do I have to bank those points for next year before booking my trip in 2025?

Hi there, Melissa-welcome back to planDisney! It's great to see you here again and I hope our advice in the past has been helpful. You must be so excited to have joined Disney Vacation Club, and I'm excited for you! Membership unlocked a whole new world of vacations for our family, and I hope the same will be true for you. Let's dive right in and talk details about deadlines and bookings.

Depending on the Use Year of the contract that you described (points in 2024/0 points in 2025), you may be able to simply use the 2024 Vacation Points as they are. For instance, if this contract has a June Use Year, the annual allotment of points was available beginning June 1, 2024. You can use these points to book a stay at your Home Resort up to 11 months out, which at the moment takes you to early August 2025. For a vacation at another DVC Resort, you can reserve up to 7 months in advance (early April 2025).

However, if you have a February or March Use Year and your vacation plans are beyond the end of that year, you can choose to bank the points. Banking is also a great option if you're planning for a long trip, or hope to stay in larger accommodations!  I have this handy chart from DVC bookmarked that shows the banking deadlines for each Use Year that you may find helpful.

Melissa, since I don't know the specific details of your contracts, my best advice is to call Member Services. The Cast Members there are always incredibly helpful, and they can pull up the details of your Membership and assist you with making a reservation and banking points.

I hope this information is helpful and that you'll soon be hearing your first official "Welcome Home" as a Disney Vacation Club Member. Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney, and please don't hesitate to reach out anytime with additional questions about DVC Membership, travel, and benefits.
