Hi Sadie, and welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like you’re planning a magical celebration for someone’s birthday, or as they call it in
Toy Story Land, happy unboxing day! So let’s chat about what to expect when you’re celebrating during a table service meal.
There’s no standard birthday celebration at table service restaurants, which means it can be a bit of a pixie-dusted surprise! I’ve celebrated lots of birthdays at Disney World, and many times my server brought over a complimentary cupcake for dessert. Other times, Cast Members sang a happy birthday song or gave me a card signed by the characters. Be sure to pick up a birthday button to wear from your
Disney Resort hotel front desk or
Guest Relations. This lets everyone know you’re celebrating, and characters will often wish you happy birthday in their own special way!
You can also
add a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake to many table service meals when you make the reservation through the
My Disney Experience app or on the
Disney World website. If you already booked, you can also add an order at the restaurant’s check-in desk if you’re able to swing by at least four days in advance. But if you’re not able to stop by in person, Hakuna Matata! You can try calling the dining reservations phone number, 407-WDW-DINE, to see if they can add a cake order. If not, many restaurants have a limited number of Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes on hand; just ask a Cast Member when you arrive at the restaurant.
If you didn’t save room for dessert, there are lots of places around Disney World to pick up a birthday treat. Here are two of my favorites! When you’re in
EPCOT, pop over to the
Cake Bake Shop Bakery on the
BoardWalk, which is a short stroll from the International Gateway entrance. You’ll find a selection of beautiful cakes, pies, and cookies, many covered with sparkly glitter! And at
Disney Springs,
Amorette’s Patisserie has an incredible selection of goodies inspired by our favorite Disney pals. You can also pre-order a specialty cake and choose from several flavors and even different Disney characters! For a really fun experience, you can even take a
cake decorating class and have a hand in making your own birthday treat!
I hope this gets you excited for your birthday celebration and gives you some ideas for a magical treat! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
