Paige! It's so good to see you here at planDisney. Thanks for asking this "cool" question. My aim is to put any doubt about what kind of cooling device you'll find in your resort hotel room on ice with my response. I consider myself the Ruler of the Cooler and the Administrator of the Mini Refrigerator, so I believe I'm eminently qualified to settle this question once and for all. Let's get to it!
The list of room amenities on the website for
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort indicates that a beverage cooler is your in-room cold storage option. These devices can only cool to 41 degrees Fahrenheit, as indicated by a sticker on the front window. I
spoke with a Cast Member back in March about beverage coolers and mini fridges, and she said the beverage coolers are "usually" cold enough for perishable items. She also noted that guests can speak with a Cast Member at the front desk of their resort hotel if they have additional cooling needs, like keeping medication at a particular temperature. If I needed to keep perishable food items cool I'd grab some ice and a cooler or purchase them at the time of need from my resort's quick service location or gift shop grocery area (if available).
Now, there are some rooms on property that have full size refrigerators that can cool below 40 degrees and are designed for the safe storage of food and other perishable items. You can review
a list of such rooms, and see the full breakdown of which resorts have beverage coolers and which have fridges. For specific questions about your cooling needs on vacation, I recommend getting in touch with
a friendly Cast Member. They will be happy to assist and answer any questions you have about fridges and beverage coolers at Disney Resort hotels.
I hope this helps you "chill" on your vacation, Paige! Come back and see us here at planDisney if you have additional questions. Warm responses are our specialty!
Stay magical,
Scott
