I chatted with a friendly Cast Member who said that most table-service locations will allow adults on a dining plan to order from the children's menu.
When you arrive for your reservation, the Cast Member advises checking with the server for any specific policies or limitations since every restaurant operates a bit differently. They might even offer suggestions or modifications for your son.
If you book a meal at a buffet or family-style restaurant, your son will be able to choose whatever looks yummy. Dining at those types of locations will definitely have the most options. One of my family's favorites is
Tusker House Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The buffet section for kiddos is where I usually load up! For breakfast, the Simba Waffles are my favorite.
