Welcome to planDisney. I’m excited to hear that you will soon be traveling to a galaxy “not” so far away. While visiting the planet Batuu at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, you can join Rey, Poe, and Finn in the resistance against the First Order. This is one of my family’s favorite attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So let’s make the jump to hyperspace and get you the answer you seek.
Alrighty, I have some great news for you. Your son should be able to experience the fun and excitement of
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance pre-show and exit the ride queue while y’all enjoy the rest. I would recommend that he request to exit the ride during the part where the First Order cast members sort and place you into the holding cells. He should be able to exit there and meet you outside of the ride when you are done. If you decide not to do this, you can certainly take advantage of
Rider Switch, which will allow part of your party to ride while the rest wait and then switch once done.
While visiting Batuu there are two very unique and amazing experiences I would recommend. At
Savi’s Workshop, you can learn about the power of the force and build your very own custom lightsaber. At the
Droid Depot, you can build your own custom remote-controlled droid. My family and I have done both of these and had a great time.
