Greetings Mark and welcome to planDisney!
You are out to win my heart! First off, Walt Disney World stays longer than 14 days, yes! A Disney Rapid Fill Refillable Mug, another yes!
The very first thing that we do when we get to our
Walt Disney World resort is to find the nearest spot to purchase our Refillable Mugs! As I type this, I am enjoying my morning orange juice out of a classic mug that we got on a trip many years ago! It is one of dozens of my old mug friends that I have acquired from the resorts, or I have saved from local thrift stores throughout the years!
Mark, to answer your question, I talked with a lovely Cast Member, and she said that the mugs have a chip that activates when they are purchased and after 14 days those chips need to be reactivated. She said there may be a cost for the reactivation; however, she said to check with the resort when you activate your mug.
Mark, I know this doesn’t give you a definitive answer currently, but it does give you a plan when you get to the resort, and you receive those beautiful, refillable old friends!
One tip I have for the mugs, if you are going to purchase more than four mugs for your family and friends, you will normally get a few that are the same design or color. Make sure you travel with a sharpie pen so you can write the owners name on the top of the mug. This will save you from taking a swig of coffee when you are expecting cold iced tea! We also take our mugs to the theme parks, even though you can’t refill them at the parks, you can keep them filled with water throughout the day. You will also have them with you when you arrive back at the resort to grab a quick refill without having to go back to your room to retrieve your mug!
Mark, have a great adventure and if you have any additional questions give us a shout here at
planDisney! Don't forget to enjoy a Mickey Bar or two!
