I want to purchase a season pass. Does the year date start from the day you purchased the pass or from the first day you use it? Lynette

Hi Lynette!  I’m so glad you stopped by with this question. As a fellow Magic Key holder, I completely understand wanting to be crystal clear on when your Key is active so you can plan your Disneyland visits with confidence.

The date a Magic Key becomes active is the date it is first used. In other words, your Magic Key year begins when you first use the Key for admission to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure, or to take advantage of paid parking at a Disneyland Resort parking location. So if you purchase a Magic Key but wait a bit before visiting, your year won’t begin until that first scan.

I noticed that you’re considering a December visit with your Magic Key. If that month ends up being the perfect time for your visit, you’ll be arriving during one of the most festive seasons of the year at Disneyland Park. Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle sparkles with shimmering lights, and Main Street, U.S.A. feels especially cozy with garlands, wreaths, and those magical moments when “snow” drifts through the air. Seasonal entertainment like A Christmas Fantasy Parade and “Believe… In Holiday Magic” fireworks add to the celebratory atmosphere and have become a highlight for my family.

Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the holidays bring their own unique flair. Festival of Holidays fills the area with music, dance, and delicious seasonal bites, making it a favorite for Guests who love to snack their way through the season. Festive entertainment, cheerful cavalcades, and live performances inspired by holiday traditions from around the world make every corner feel lively and welcoming.

Lynette, I hope this helps you map out your next steps. If you need any tips for making the most of your Magic Key year, we’d be happy to see you back at planDisney!

Wishing you a year ahead filled with magic and memorable moments,
    David
