Hiya, Claudia! Welcome to planDisney!
Lightning Lane Passes are a great way to save time waiting in line while at
Walt Disney World Resort. There are some important things to be aware of when it comes to planning your park days while using
Lightning Lane Passes. I’m happy to help shed some light on that for you, Claudia. Let’s get right into it!
First things first, if you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotels, you’ll be able to purchase Lightning Lane Passes up to 7 days in advance of your stay. If you are staying elsewhere, you can purchase passes up to 3 days in advance of your park visit. When your booking window does open, Lightning Lane Passes can currently only be booked on the
My Disney Experience app. As of this writing, it’s not possible to do so on the Walt Disney World Resort website. From the welcome page on the app, at the bottom of your screen, select the icon with three horizontal lines. This is the right-most icon. On the next screen, select the “Lightning Lane Passes” box. From here, you’ll be prompted to select Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, or Premier Pass.
From there, you’ll select the date, park, and members of your party that you want to purchase your passes for. After that, you’ll be prompted to select your first three Lightning Lane experiences for that day of your visit. At Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions are divided into two groups. The most in-demand attractions are in one group, and the other attractions are in a second group. You’ll be able to book one attraction from the first group, and two attractions from the second group, or all three from the second group if you prefer. As of this writing, there are no groups for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. All attractions are on equal footing. After that, you'll complete your purchase and repeat the process for any other days that you wish to purchase Lightning Lane Passes for.
I hope this answers your question, Claudia! One of my favorite things about Lightning Lane Passes is that they can help you fit even more magic into your day. Time that can be spent enjoying some other offerings around Walt Disney World. There are so many
great offerings around property this summer, including the newly reopened Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park!
If you have any other questions in the days leading up to your visit, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at

fellow panelists and I are always happy to help!
See you real soon!
