Welcome Home, Laura! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney from across the pond. It is always great to meet a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member!
One of the lesser-known aspects of Disney Vacation Club membership is the ability to use your
Vacation Points to explore a whole new world beyond Disney destinations through a partnership with
Interval International. This is a timeshare exchange company that allows DVC Members to exchange Vacation Points for stays at resorts in more than 80 countries--there's truly something for everyone! I've yet to book a vacation exchange myself, but a trip to Ireland is on our family's bucket list and I've been investigating how the process works. I'm happy to share my newfound knowledge with you!
Laura, since you have Points already deposited with Interval International, they will stay in holding until you book an exchange or the points expire, and cannot be returned to your Disney Vacation Club account. You can initiate the process to secure a reservation either
online, or by calling Disney Vacation Club
Member Services. I spoke with one of the always-helpful DVC Cast Members and they
highly recommend using Member Services to guide you through the transaction and explain any fees that may be associated with an exchange. The DVC Member
website also has lots of great information regarding booking windows for Interval International exchanges and other helpful details.
I hope that this information is just what you needed to book the vacation you've been dreaming of! Thanks again for visiting us at planDisney, Laura, and please reach out again any time if you have additional questions about your Disney Vacation Club membership.
Adventure Awaits!
