Hey there, Tracey,
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! I’m sorry to hear you’re having a little bit of trouble with your
MagicBand+, but not to worry. Updates are required from time to time, and I’ve experienced similar tech issues myself before.
If you haven’t already done so, close your
My Disney Experience app and head to your phone’s App Store to see if any updates are available. Next, make sure your
MagicBand+ battery is fully charged and near your phone. I ran into trouble completing an update when my band had a low battery, so make sure the lighted ring is blinking green before you get started. You can press the button on the back of your band to confirm the charge status-
a yellow or red light means you need to plug in for a bit.
Once your band is ready to go, head to the feature menu (☰) in your My Disney Experience app, then select “MagicBands & Cards” under the Account section toward the bottom half of the screen. Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner near your name, then select “Manage” next to your linked MagicBand+. You should see a prompt to update your band or a green checkmark indicating “Up to Date” if no additional updates are available or required.
At this point, the Bluetooth pairing button should be clickable, but if not, press and hold the button on the back of your band for a few seconds until the band vibrates and the
light flashes blue. You'll also want to make sure your phone's Bluetooth button is toggled on in the settings menu. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process, keeping your band and phone side by side the entire time.
If you've completed the steps above and are still having trouble, I recommend reaching out to the
App and MagicBand Support by phone for further assistance. They'll be able to troubleshoot in real time and get you on your magical way!
I hope this helps, Tracey. If we can answer any additional questions before your arrival this weekend, please don't hesitate to come back and let us know.
Magic and memories,
Amy
