Is it worthwhile buying the Magic Bands and can I do this from Scotland so that I have them prior to visiting? Can you also advise the first parks to start with? My son will be 3 years old!

Hi there, Rebecca, and welcome back to planDisney!

I will echo my friend Abi's sentiment that treasured moments await you; no matter which path you travel down. Disney World is the practically perfect getaway for families, especially with a little one in tow! It's my pleasure to answer your question today.

Disney World Guests from the United Kingdom are not able to purchase Disney bands (or MagicBands) prior to their adventure. However, once you've made it to Disney World, you can purchase them from one of the many retail stores around property. When I'm at the theme parks and Resort hotels, I see bands available here, there, and everywhere! Even if you're shopping or dining your way around Disney Springs, you'll find them in stores like the World of Disney. They come in the coolest designs--you'll definitely want to choose one that shows off your favorite color or Disney character.

After you've purchased one, pair it to your My Disney Experience account via the desktop site or the app. Now, are Disney bands actually worth the purchase and set-up? I love using Disney MagicMobile (using my cell phone or smartwatch), but a band is very convenient and it can be used to open your Resort hotel door, charge food to your room, and so much more. Also, my not-so-little-ones could stare at the interactive, multi-sensory haptics all day.

AN EXTRA GEM: Speaking of little ones, your son is going to love any theme park that you introduce him to. But when it comes to attractions with no (or shorter) minimum height requirements, Magic Kingdom should be on your list. From Dumbo (and its unique play area) to "it's a small world," you'll have so many options for him to enjoy. My younger son also likes EPCOT because of its large SeaBase Aquarium and its various playgrounds. Check out the Disney Kids webpage to see what's in store for your 3-year-old at The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Rebecca, please don't be a stranger. If you have any additional Disney holiday planning questions, revisit us here at planDisney. See you real soon!

    Magic always,
