Hello! We are going to Magic Kingdom on 8/9 and want to reserve Tony’s Town Square. Can you advise the best time to make this reservation? Is it a good idea to do during the parade or before/after? Thanks!

Hi Monica, and welcome to planDisney! Town Square, right near the Main Street, U.S.A. train station, is one of my favorite parade viewing spots. So I’d be happy to chat about the best time to make your reservation for Tony’s Town Square Restaurant!

The August schedule for the two parades at Magic Kingdom (Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Disney Starlight) hasn't been released yet, so keep checking the website as you get closer to your visit. Since August 9th is a Sunday, you can check Sundays in June to get an idea of possible parade times. Just keep in mind that the schedule is frequently changing, so the times could be different when you’re there. But you can always make a reservation now and modify it later (subject to availability).

Watching a parade from the patio at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is pretty magical! However, while you can request an outside table when you check in, it’s not guaranteed. Sometimes there are two showings of Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Disney Starlight. In that case, I’d recommend making a reservation for 45-60 minutes before the first parade time. That way, if you’re seated inside during the parade, you can catch the second showing later in the day.

If there’s only one showing, you may want to make your reservation after the parade so you can watch the floats before heading over to Tony’s for your meal. If you stake out a spot on the sidewalk around Town Square, you’ll have a great view of the parade since you’ll be super close to the floats. You can also make a dining reservation for about 2.5 hours before the parade, if that timing works better. But I’d prefer to do it afterward so you don’t have to worry about rushing through your meal.

While you’re in Magic Kingdom this summer, don’t miss Jessie’s Roundup at the Diamond Horseshoe. Jessie, Woody, and Bullseye are hosting a fun hoedown filled with dancing and games as part of Cool KIDS’ SUMMER!

I’m wishing you an incredible time at Magic Kingdom in August! And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
