Hiya, Karen, and welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you're at
Walt Disney World Resort and have secured a boarding group for a virtual queue. Congratulations! You're off to a magical start. Let's talk about how the boarding process works so you can be sure to enjoy the attraction.
You were assigned a boarding group number when you
joined the virtual queue in your My Disney Experience
mobile app. The first few groups are typically called near the theme park opening, and subsequent groups are called at a rate of about 10-15 groups per hour. Remember, this is subject to ride interruptions for weather or maintenance, so the best way to estimate your return time is to watch the boarding progression in your app's "My Queues" section.
My family typically starts making our way to the attraction when we are about ten groups away from being called. We'll grab a snack or hop on a nearby attraction to wait for that exciting notification that it's our turn to ride. Once your group is called, you'll
have about an hour to arrive and scan in.
Once you scan in at the ride, wait times to board can vary. Since that one-hour window can cause fluctuations in how many guests arrive at once, I've waited in line for as long as 45 minutes. I recently joined the virtual queue for
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and waited in line for about half an hour. Luckily, that queue was filled with entertaining scenes of Xandar, so the time passed quickly.
Karen, I'm wishing on a star that you have fabulous experiences and make magical memories on your visit this week. Please
stop by planDisney anytime!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
