Hi Tammy, and welcome to planDisney. It sounds like you have a groovy trip planned for later this year! I love
Pop Century Resort’s fun pop culture icons throughout the grounds and the easy access to the
Disney Skyliner.
Now let’s figure out the best room for you to book. At Pop Century, the Preferred Rooms are closer to Classic Hall, the pools, and Disney transportation, so it can certainly be worth the extra cost for a shorter walk after a long park day! However, most Preferred Rooms don’t face the lake, so if this is a priority for you I’d book a Standard Room. While these rooms might be a bit further from those main areas, in my experience, many of the Standard Rooms are in quieter locations.
Once you’ve booked, you can call the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations phone number to add your request for a lake view room. While it’s not guaranteed, Cast Members will try their best to grant your wish! To increase your chances, I’d recommend keeping your request simple (e.g., lake view room), instead of being too specific (e.g., lake view room on a high floor). This way the Cast Members have more rooms to work with when trying to fulfill your request.
Pop Century is a practically perfect location for a December visit since it’s a Disney Skyliner ride away from
EPCOT, where the
International Festival of the Holidays will be underway, and
Hollywood Studios, where you can find the specially ticketed
Jollywood Nights party. December is my favorite time to visit Disney World because the theme parks and resort hotels are extra magical with all the holiday decorations. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for more information on the seasonal happenings as Disney World transforms into the Merriest Place on Earth!
I hope you have a pixie-dusted stay at Pop Century and I’ll be wishing on a star that your room has a view of Hourglass Lake!
JoAnna
