Hi I’m wondering if I am able to upgrade a two day pass to an annual pass on a possible Friday or Saturday? I’d be upgrading to an explore key so I believe Saturdays are blocked out so would I be able to upgrade that ticket at the end of my visit?

Welcome to planDisney, Dana! I’m excited to hear you’re considering becoming a Magic Key holder. As a fellow Magic Key holder myself, I love the flexibility of being able to enjoy everything from full park days to spontaneous evening visits filled with attractions, snacks, and nighttime entertainment.

I’m happy to share that you can absolutely upgrade your eligible theme park ticket to an Explore Key even if the day you’re visiting is blocked out for that Magic Key. The important thing to remember is that while you can complete the upgrade process on a blocked date, you would not be able to use the newly activated Magic Key to enter the parks until a date when reservations are available for your pass type.

When you’re ready to upgrade, you can usually complete the process directly in the Disneyland app. First, make sure your ticket is linked to your MyDisney account. Then open the app, tap the menu icon in the lower-right corner, and select “Tickets and Passes.” If your ticket is eligible for an upgrade, you should see an option to apply its value toward a Magic Key purchase. From there, simply follow the prompts to select your pass and complete the transaction. Since Magic Key availability can change at any time, it’s always a good idea to move forward once you see the pass you want available.

And if you’re planning your first visit as a Magic Key holder this summer, you picked a fantastic time to join. The Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration has filled both parks with incredible entertainment, including Paint the Night, Wondrous Journeys, and World of Color Happiness! There’s something especially fun about ending a Disneyland evening with nighttime spectaculars and knowing another visit is already waiting on your calendar.

Dana, I hope this helps you feel confident as you take the next step toward joining the Magic Key community. If any other questions pop up while planning your future Disneyland days, please stop by planDisney again anytime.

Wishing you lots of churros, nighttime spectaculars, and happy Disneyland visits ahead!
