Greetings, Alma, and welcome to planDisney! You're on your way to making magical memories at the Disneyland Resort! As you know, both a
valid theme park ticket and a reservation are required for admission. I have an idea about why you and your friend are seeing differences in the reservation system, and I'm happy to share some information that may help.
Reservation availability varies depending on the type of ticket or Magic Key pass. At the time of writing this, I see that May 16, 2026 is still available to reserve for 1-park-per-day tickets and
Park Hopper tickets, but not for the
CA Resident Park Hopper Ticket. This means that all reservations allotted to that ticket type are currently booked for that day.
If you have the CA Resident Park Hopper Ticket, that would explain why you're unable to reserve that date right now. Since those tickets are valid through May 21, 2026, many Guests are likely making reservations for dates in May, which can affect availability. Weekend reservations tend to fill up first.
There are a few important things to consider, Alma. First, there's always a chance (but no guarantee) that reservations can become available again as the date approaches. Keep checking! That said, May 16 is the last Saturday before the CA Resident Park Hopper Ticket expires – many Guests will be trying to reserve that date. You don't want to wait too long and discover that many other dates are already reserved.
I suggest making reservations for all the remaining dates of your ticket, if you haven't already. It's typically part of the purchase process when you get tickets
on the Disneyland website. From your existing reservations, keep trying to modify one of those reservations to May 16. If that day doesn't work out, at least you have a backup date secured. You can modify reservations on the Disneyland website or in the
mobile app, as long as the tickets are linked to your account.
If you plan to visit the Disneyland Resort a few more times this year, you could consider
upgrading your current ticket to a
Magic Key pass. That would give you a chance to visit all year long, throughout the rest of the 70th Anniversary Celebration, Halloween Time, the Holidays, and more.
May 16, 2026 is blocked for Enchant, Explore, and Imagine Keys, and is currently still available for Inspire and Believe Keys.
Alma, I know that it feels like a Bibbidi Bobbidi Bummer that you're unable to reserve the date that you're dreaming of. Keep trying, but have a backup plan in case.
If you'd like to speak with a Cast Member to get additional assistance as you sort this out, you can contact the
