I'm trying to use my old band from 2021 that it says this magic band has already been claimed. What does that mean

Howdy, Alita! I'm glad you stopped by planDisney on your way to Walt Disney World Resort. I'm waving my Fairy Godmother wand for safe travels and a fabulous visit! MagicBands are a magical part of Disney vacations, so let's look at how you can use yours.

MagicBands cannot be transferred to other guests once they've been linked to an account. So, if the MagicBand you're trying to use was ever attached to someone else, you probably won't be able to transfer it to your account.

If you've used this band at the theme parks before, you should be able to use it again. Be sure it's linked to the same account your theme park tickets are in; I once ended up with two accounts somehow! The batteries can deplete, but typically not that soon. Maybe that mischievous Stitch has gotten inside your band! But I have a couple of ideas to help you troubleshoot.

My first tip is to call the My Disney Experience/MagicBand line. They will access your account to see what's happening with that persnickety band. If you're already at a theme park (lucky you!), I suggest stopping by any Guest Relations location with the MagicBand. They'll be able to link it back to you if it's possible to do so. I like to stop by the blue umbrellas to let the Guest Experiences Team work their magic!

This might be the perfect opportunity to upgrade to a MagicBand+! I love the lights and vibrations this rechargeable band offers. You can purchase these colorful themed bands at most shops in the theme parks, Disney Springs, and your Disney Resort hotel. I'm a Mickey Mouse fan, so I always go for the classic styles featuring my favorite big-eared fellow!

Alita, I hope I've given you some guidance on how to resolve your MagicBand issue. Have a wonderful trip, and please stop by planDisney anytime! We'll "band" together to help!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
