Hiya, Katie! I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney. It looks like you have a visit coming up tomorrow, so I hope your Minnie ears are packed and ready. I love your plan to stay at a Disney Resort hotel;
the perks are fabulous! You'll enjoy complimentary transportation, Early Theme Park Entry, and more. Let's discuss how you can research room layouts to make your stay practically perfect.
Walt Disney World Resort offers over
30 resorts with different room categories and types. That variety is what keeps me coming back, Katie! In the past few years, many resorts have undergone refurbishments, so there are often differences within the same resort. All that to say, there's no definitive list I can share. But Hakuna Matata! I have some ideas to help.
From personal experience, I've found that all resorts have a door separating the toilet and shower from the rest of the room. For example, my family recently stayed at
Disney's Pop Century Resort and found a sliding pocket door for the toilet/shower room. This resort also had a second pocket door separating the room with the sink and closet from the bedroom, providing all the privacy we needed. I feel most resorts offer this double-door layout, but there are some exceptions.
You might be concerned about the sink area being open to the bedroom, but I feel nearly all rooms have some sort of partition to this "dressing room." My sister-in-law stayed at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside last year, and she said a
Princess and the Frog curtain separated the sink and closet from the sleeping area; a sliding wooden door kept the toilet/shower area private.
I suggest an online search for room tour videos if you're considering a specific resort. Add "2024" to your search title to get the most recent tours. I typed "Port Orleans room tour 2024" and confirmed the curtain divider still exists. It's a thin curtain but would provide an adequate spot for changing in privacy. After watching a few additional room tours, I found
The Little Mermaid Standard Rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort also provide a curtain divider for the sink/dressing area.
You can also call
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations to speak to a helpful Cast Member about specific room layouts. While they probably won't be able to share a list of resorts, they will go through individual ones with you. I'm wishing on the evening star that you find the perfect match!
Katie, I hope I've given you the tools to do some research for your dream-come-true resort. Please stop by
planDisney anytime!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
