Hello there, Valerie, and welcome to planDisney!
My goodness, congratulations on over 50 years of marriage! My heart leaped with joy when I read your question! My wife and I just celebrated our 20 year Anniversary and we certainly hope to reach such a milestone. And how wonderful that the two of you were able to honeymoon at Disneyland Park!
I've been visiting Disneyland Park since I was a child in the late 70s and I think back wistfully to those days when I would spend an entire day in the Park, dragging my parents from ride to ride, fueled only by sugar and popcorn. Back then you simply had to show up to the ticket booth and purchase an admission ticket to the Park. Sure, you never got enough "E"Tickets, but you still had a great time!
There have been many changes since then, one of them being the
reservation system that was implemented after the pandemic. I'm afraid that visiting the Disneyland Resort takes some advance planning these days, and it's less possible to just show up and purchase a ticket. All Guests are now subject to reservation availability and reservations do indeed fill up on some of the busier days. You can take a glance at the
Reservation Calendar to check availability. Reservations for standard tickets are released 180 days in advance.
I would recommend, once you have your itinerary better planned, that you purchase
Theme Park Tickets at the
Disneyland website well ahead of your visit. Part of the purchase process will have you selecting the day(s) for your visit and a reservation will automatically be created for you. This is not set in stone and you are free to modify this reservation as long as availability exists. Keep in mind that tickets are nonrefundable, however.
Do you have any pictures from your honeymoon? It would be really neat to try and recreate the picture today in approximately the same location where the original was taken! I realize that much has likely changed in the last five decades, but it would still make for a fun project.
Valerie, it was my pleasure to answer your question and I hope that your dream to visit Disneyland Park again will be realized! Please accept a truly heartfelt congratulations from me and all of us at planDisney on your accomplishment.
