Hiya, I'm visiting disney world May 2025, staying at AKL. I'm looking at how easy it is to get from other resorts back to AKL after meals etc. For example how would I get back from Polynesian resort at 9pm-10pm in the evening? Thanks :)

Hi Heather and welcome to planDisney!

As one of the current UK panelists, it's always extra special when I'm able to help a fellow Guest from the UK with the planning of a trip to my number 1 holiday destination.

Heather, let me start by saying that travelling around Walt Disney World couldn't be easier using Disney's complimentary Resort Transportation options. The different modes of transport available are so reliable and easy to use that I can't actually remember the last time my family hired a car when visiting.

Complimentary Resort Transportation begins 45 minutes prior to Disney theme park opening time and up to 1 hour after Disney theme park closing time. Additionally, buses operate until 11:00 PM from the Disney Springs area.

So, for example, if you had a dining reservation at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort (the bread pudding at 'Ohana is my favourite dessert at Walt Disney World by the way) and were ready to make your way back to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at approximately 9-10pm, you have a couple of options, depending on what time the Magic Kingdom closes that day:-

1/ Take a water taxi or monorail from the Polynesian to Magic Kingdom and then from there, transfer onto a bus heading to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

2/ Take a bus from the Polynesian to Disney Springs and then from there, transfer onto another bus heading to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

3/ For speed and convenience you also have the option of using a ride-share service (such as Uber or Lyft) to pick you up from the Polynesian and take you directly back to your hotel. Although there would be a charge for using this service sometimes, when it's later in the evening and legs are weary from a day at the Theme Parks, my family feel that it is worth paying a little extra to save travelling time.

Top Tip - It is possible to view routes and stop locations for various modes of transportation—including buses, monorails and water taxis on the My Disney Experience App. Just click on the "☰" in the bottom right-hand corner of the home page and scroll down to "Transportation & Parking" in the "Getting Around" section.

Cast Members at the Front Desk of any Disney Resort hotel will also be more than happy to help you to figure out the best way of getting back to your hotel if you are unsure at all.

I hope that this has answered your question, Heather and that you have the most brilliant time when you visit this Spring.

Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
