Magical greetings, Elena! Thanks for running by with your question. I am happy to help!
How very exciting that you are participating in the
Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. The 10k distance at the
Disneyland Resort is one of my favorite
runDisney races offered. You will have a blast! As races begin bright and early in the morning, I always bring hand warmers and a mylar blanket to the start to keep me warm. (Just remember that mylar blankets can interfere with the timing tag in your race bib, so ditch it before crossing the starting line!)
Elena, while some streets around the Disneyland Resort will be blocked off to car traffic during the race, there will generally be a pedestrian route that can get you to rope drop on Sunday. I looked at the
Half Marathon course and saw that Katella Ave. and Harbor Blvd. have road closures between 4:30 and 10:30 AM, including a portion of Harbor Blvd. with limited local access. You will want to follow Cast Member and race official instructions on how to get to the Disneyland Resort at that time.
Last year, after running the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon, my family and I went to the parks and found security lines to be much longer than normal. Be aware that this might be true on Sunday, so you will want to give yourself more time to arrive than expected to get to drop rope. The Downtown Disney District entrance to the resort may be a good alternative option if access to the
Harbor Blvd. security area is inaccessible in the morning. For more information, read the event's
Digital Expo guide on the runDisney website.
I hope this information helps, Elena! Please visit us again with any other planning questions.
Every mile is magic,
Melissa
