Why hello there Vrushti, I'd like to wish you a warm wedding welcome to planDisney!
Before my husband and I
got married at Walt Disney World Resort last year, I spent years researching the ins and outs of
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons and learned from others about their experience with the tradition of
sending a wedding invitation to Mickey & Minnie Mouse. Here at planDisney I also previously
helped a fellow Disney couple traveling internationally for their wedding with their question about sending an invitation and while at the current time there still isn't a way to do so neither online nor electronically, we did in fact test this our ourselves and I'm happy to share some pre-wedding wisdom:
- The most important thing to keep in mind that though in the past couples have been fortunate enough to receive a congratulatory autographed postcard in the mail, this cannot be guaranteed and certainly not something that you should be expecting to receive in return. (Most couples who do attempt it just find the fun in sending something in itself!)
- In my research I've found couples who have been able to send out physical wedding invitations through a service that prepares and mails these out on their behalf, but there's no telling whether this will be worth the added cost just to do so. The Guest Relations Cast Member I checked with suggest that you can always try reaching out to the folks at the Help Center who will communicate with you via email to see if there's anything that they can suggest on their end - though we've also had mixed results with this in our experience.
- Some alternatives that I suggest instead which might end up being a more magical moment is by visiting Mickey or Minnie in person during the week of your wedding to present them with your wedding card - or perhaps even have one autographed by them! This avoids having to worry about the trouble of sending anything in the post internationally without necessarily getting anything in return and I recommend even doing this during a Character Dining experience where both may be present. We actually chose to have Mickey and Minnie both show up to our wedding as a surprise to our guests in their gorgeous formal attire, though it's important to remember that they cannot attend the ceremony and are currently bookable in 30-minute increments.
I hope these suggestions are helpful to you both, Vrushti! We found it super helpful to be inspired by other couples and their weddings on the
Ever After Blog and Disney Wedding Podcast as well as the Disney Parks Blog and planning groups for DisBrides and Grooms online, but don't hesitate to
come back to ask about any other Disney Wedding tips or advice as you prepare to tie the knot at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Here's to your Happily Ever After coming to life this year!
