I have an annual pass. If I buy a ticketed special event can I go to the park as normal and stay in the park for the event

Hey there Thomas, it's great to see you here at planDisney!

As a fellow Annual Passholder, I love being able to come to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks quite often in the pursuit of planDisney research (as well as my own general merriment), taking advantage of the Passholder Perks and benefits as much as I can. I've attended my share of Special Ticketed events recently such as Disney After Hours, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Disney Jollywood Nights and have remained in each of the theme parks prior to the event, and can lend you a few personal Princely insights on what it's like:

    • One of the great things about being able to enjoy your time at a theme park on a day with an event scheduled for the evening, is that I've observed many families choosing to head to other destinations on account of the earlier closing time for day guests. Experiencing this as an Annual Passholder, this has often meant shorter than expected waits in the standby queues for attractions - at least until special event attendees are allowed in. While policies have the chance of changing in the future without prior notice, you're still currently able to stay within the theme park after spending the day just as long as you've got a valid special event ticket for that evening.
    • There are typically designated spots around the theme parks where Cast Members will scan and verify tickets before providing attendees with a wristband or bracelet; when I covered last year's Disney Jollywood Nights we were also provided with a lanyard and it was so much quicker and more convenient to do so already within the park as opposed to the long queues of folks waiting at the entrance. In my personal experience, it's always a good idea to find out where the distribution points are located while you're enjoying the day so that you can avoid the crowds and be already set to enjoy some of the exclusive offerings sooner than most - such as event-exclusive Character experiences! (I typically aim for the locations that are the furthest away and have never experienced a long wait so far.)
I hope that this was helpful to you Thomas - don't hesitate to come back to us here at planDisney to let us know which event you're attending for more tips, tricks and strategies to help you be best prepared before you go!
