Hi Jamie,
Welcome to planDisney! Disney World has done a fabulous job of revamping its process for guests with disabilities to ensure they adequately serve all of their guests' needs. I recommend reviewing the
comprehensive website and the
Accessibility Planning Guide to see which services best suit your needs.
Disability Access Service (DAS) is available only to guests who, because of a developmental disability like autism are not able to wait in line for an extended period of time. To determine eligibility, you will participate in a live video chat with a cast member before your visit. Even if you wait to apply for DAS until you are at Disney World, you will still need to do so on the live video chat. To begin the chat process, visit the registration page up to 30 days before your visit, log in to your MyDisney account, and click "Request Live Video Chat." During the live video chat, they will determine eligibility and take a photo of the person to whom DAS is registered. If you are registering for someone else, ensure they are present when you start the chat process to avoid any issues.
DAS can only be used for up to 4 people at a time. This will include the DAS-registered guest, who must be present and check in at each ride before the rest of the party will be let through. All of your DAS return times will be reserved in the
My Disney Experience app. The process of reserving return times is super easy, and they will walk you through it on your live video chat if you are new to using the service. Make sure to log in under the My Disney account that manages your child before starting the process to ensure that everything is connected properly.
You can reserve one DAS return time at a time and will need to wait 10 minutes after you use your return before securing another one. We like to use the wait time to relax somewhere that is quiet and calm with a snack or drink.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
