My family received complimentary Disney tickets through points of light in 2019. Due to the pandemic and life events, we were unable to use them. We are planning Disney this month, and would like to know if it’s possible to exchange for unexpired tickets?

    Hey there, Logan!

Thanks for bringing your question to us today. I'm excited to hear you're hoping to visit Walt Disney World Resort in the coming weeks.

I know that complimentary theme park tickets can be issued for a variety of reasons, but unfortunately, I don't have access to the ticketing system to look into the finer details and expiration windows for each ticket type. If you still have them in your possession I'd recommend trying to link them to your My Disney Experience Account. If you can link them successfully, an expiration date should be visible beneath the ticket barcode when viewed in your My Disney Experience Mobile App.

If the tickets are still within their usage period you should be able to make the necessary theme park reservations to visit this month. As a reminder, date-based tickets no longer require theme park reservations as of January 9, 2024. However, Annual Passholders and other non-date-based tickets (like complimentary tickets) still require theme park reservations to enter the parks.

I was in a similar situation when a friend passed along complimentary tickets she received from work to me two years ago. Unfortunately, by the time I looked at the details the expiration window had already passed. At that point, I was still able to add them to My Disney Experience Account but they didn't show any remaining admission left. I wish I had thought to call a Cast Member to inquire but since they were complimentary and we didn't have an upcoming visit planned, I figured I didn't lose anything.

Since you are hoping to use them in the coming weeks I'd recommend reaching out to a Cast Member by phone for assistance. They should be able to look up your ticket information and provide more details on their specific usage period. If already expired, they may be able to apply them to new tickets, but I can't make any guarantees.

I hope you can find a resolution so you can visit later this month. There's so much magic awaiting, especially if you haven't had the chance to visit in a few years. You won't want to miss the new thrills like TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise at Magic Kingdom Park and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. I'm excited for your family to get started on the fun! Please don't hesitate to come back and see us again with any additional questions.

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
