Hi there Ellie,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for visiting with your question today. It sounds like you're planning a magical vacation with some kiddos this Fall. Woo hoo! How exciting, I hope you've got a countdown in the works... it's part of the fun!
I've visited Walt Disney World with my family since my kids were little, and they were both always picky eaters. So I've always appreciated that Disney offers a nice range of food options that appeal to kids, making it easy to find something they'll enjoy.
In general, a kids meal typically includes an entree, choice of two sides, and a beverage. The side selections are often items like grapes, mini carrots, french fries, potato chips, apple slices, mandarin cutie, or yogurt. Disney Dining locations usually feature some healthier choices called "Disney Check" kids meals, along with a couple other kids meal choices.
Did you know you can actually view
Disney Dining menus online, on the Disney World website? Perhaps it would be helpful to view some examples, and plan out a few places ahead of time that you know will appeal to your mouseketeers. The website features a search if you'd like to look by dining locations, or venue type (such as Table Service restaurant, Quick Service, etc.). Just select the restaurant name, then click the "View Menu" option to view both descriptions and prices.
Here's an example of some Quick Service kids menu offerings in Animal Kingdom (one of my favorite parks for food!)
- Flame Tree Barbecue has 4 kids meals available: baked chicken drumstick, pulled pork platter, all-beef hot dog, or PB&J Uncrustable.
- Pizzafari has 5 kids meals available: cheese pizza, pasta with turkey marinara, macaroni and cheese, pepperoni pizza, or PB&J Uncrustable.
- Satu'li Canteen has 5 kids meals available: Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl, Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl, Cheeseburger Steamed Pod, "Teylu" All-Beef Hot Dog Wrapped in Dough, or Cheese Quesadilla.
As you can see, it's a nice variety. These include both go-to basics that kids typically like, along with some tasty options that are themed to the type of food served at that particular restaurant.
One last tip, Ellie! I'd highly recommend having the
My Disney Experience app downloaded and ready to go. It's super helpful for finding dining locations, making dining reservations, or even placing a
mobile food order to skip the busy lunch line.
Wishing upon a star for you to have the best... trip... ever!! Please send me another
message at planDisney if I can help with any other questions you may have.
Adventure is out there!
