My DVC membership point end in 2042. Should I be looking now to sell my points, since they will not be worth anything at that time?

Welcome Home, Kathryn! Thanks so much for visiting planDisney. It's always a treat to chat with a fellow Disney Vacation Club Member--and of course a fellow Michigander, as well! Like the Genie, you ain't never had a friend like me, and I'm happy to help talk through your question.

If you're thinking of selling your DVC Vacation Points, it's good to carefully consider the pros and cons. While selling of course offers immediate financial benefits, it also means giving up potential future vacations at Disney destinations around the world.

Selling your points may be a way to achieve other financial goals, or simply generate some extra spending money. With 18 years remaining until the 2042 expiration date, you may not embark on as many Disney vacations in the later years, so selling would have less of an effect on your personal vacation plans. There is no information from Disney Vacation Club regarding plans for the resorts with the 2042 expiration--it is possible these could be extended, but for now this is just an Internet rumor!

However, there are some drawbacks to selling. First and foremost, you would be giving up the possibility of using the Vacation Points for your own Disney adventures with family and friends. My personal feeling is that you can't put a price on these memories, but your mileage may vary!

Ultimately, the decision to sell depends on your individual circumstances, Kathryn. Consider how often you visit Disney destinations and consult with a DVC Guide or a financial advisor to help understand the current market so you can choose the best course of action for your specific situation.

I hope this helps shed a little light on your decision making! It's certainly a big choice to make, so take your time and be sure to get some advice from trusted professionals. If our planDisney squad can help you make some magical vacation plans with those DVC points in the meantime, please reach out anytime. Thanks again for stopping by, Kathryn!

    Stay Magical!
