Ahoy there, Ibelka! Thanks for sailing on over to planDisney. As a dedicated Wayfinder myself, I love to take to the open seas, and I'm happy to help with your vacation planning question.
If you haven't sailed with
Disney Cruise Line before, you are in for a treat! Our family has enjoyed several magical voyages, and I had the amazing opportunity to sail on the Disney Dream last fall with my planDisney classmates for our training trip. DCL offers luxury, amazing service, and plenty of pixie dust around every corner. It's a recipe for making memories!
Great news, Ibelka--transportation from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral could not be more convenient! Our first two Disney cruises sailed from Port Canaveral, and the DCL
ground transfers made our departure day so seamless. Shuttles depart from the airport approximately every 30 minutes and whisk you right to the port (about a 1-hour trip).
If you choose to reserve DCL transfers, it's good to know how embarkation day will go! Once you land at MCO, gather your luggage and proceed to Side B, Level 1 - Ground Transportation. At this time, you'll put your Disney Cruise Line luggage tags on your bags. Just make sure that you hang onto anything you'll need, as those bags may not arrive in your cabin until late afternoon. Your Port Arrival Form and photo ID, as well as any necessities like sunscreen, a water bottle, or medications, should all stay with you in a carry-on bag.
I recommend
calling DCL soon to purchase your ground transfers with your cruise approaching in July, as space may be limited.
Once aboard your ship, make sure you don't miss out on the special reception for
Disney Vacation Club Members that is offered on all sailings! You will also want to stop by the DVC desk in the lobby, where you can pick up some fun Member goodies throughout your voyage.
Ibelka, I hope this information is just what you need to finalize your travel plans for your summer cruise. Wishing you fair winds and following seas--please stop by planDisney again if we can assist with any other questions!
Bon Voyage!
Susan
