Hi Peter,
Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with a great question about downloading your images from
Memory Maker which were captured by
Disney PhotoPass Service in what I hope was an amazing
Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I love talking technology and Disney memories, so let’s get right to it.
Your instincts are correct in that you should download the files onto a computer (Mac or PC, either is fine) in order to capture the full metadata from the images. I went to my own Disney PhotoPass files to confirm that yes, the date/time of the exact photo capture as well as the rest of the metadata associated with your image are saved with the file upon full download. My files had the “date taken” as the actual photo date as well as a “date modified” which was the download date.
I enjoy downloading select photos to my smartphone while on vacation to share quickly with family back home or to post on social, but I wait until I am home on my computer to download and save everything for long-term storage. You can still do this even if you’ve accessed the images on your phone. Please
see the great detailed instructions my friend Kaitlin recently shared with a Guest on how to do this. Be sure to
download everything before they expire, 45 days after your trip; you should receive notice of the date approaching via email but it’s always best to be proactive and save them as soon as you remember.
I’m so glad you took advantage of Disney’s PhotoPass Service to capture these precious memories throughout your recent vacation, and I hope this guidance helps you download all the important details of those files you’re seeking. Enjoy going through all those wonderful pictures and reliving the great time you had together!
