Happy New Year, Lauren! The White Rabbit is running around in my head with his watch out, telling me, "We're late! We're late for a very important date!" But there is time for hellos and goodbyes. Today, of all days, is about greetings, wishes, hopes and closure.
It's a very popular day to visit Walt Disney World. I can't imagine a more magical place to say farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025! You can check a few ways to see if any of the theme parks have reached capacity.
First, you can call (407) 560-5000 for a recorded message about which parks are accepting new Guests. I just called and am pleased to say no park was reported as being at capacity. It can change (and can change quickly), but it looks promising so far.
You can also look on the My Disney Experience app under "Park Hours & Info" on the Welcome screen or on the main menu page (the "≡" at the bottom of the screen). With the current date selected, you can see each park's hours and "Park Hopper Availability." This should indicate if park hopping is unavailable, which would be a sign that the park has reached capacity.
When I was at Magic Kingdom Park a few years ago on New Year's Day, I got a push notification on the app that let me know it was full: additional Guests would not be let in until current Guests had left, and if I left, I might not be able to get back in. I opened my app just now to see if there were any messages, and there was a notification about all the magical celebrations at EPCOT, the Magic Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios to ring in the new year. Since they are using push notifications for the events today, it could indicate they would do the same with closures.
Lauren, I recommend calling and listening to the message. If it still sounds like it's all clear, cross your fingers and ask Tinkerbell for a sprinkle of Pixie Dust. The signs look good at the moment, but you never know when others plan to make their grand entrances to celebrate good times!
I hope you have a shining, shimmering, splendid evening at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Cheers to 2025!
Jana
