Shannon,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
I have to confess that in all my years of travel to Walt Disney World, I had never had the opportunity to test out the
self-service laundry facilities at the resort hotels. If someone's shirt got a stain on it, we did our best to wash it off in the sink, then stuffed it into our suitcases, deciding to wait until we got home to apply more TLC in cleaning the item.
That was, until our family vacation this past Spring Break. We had enough dirty laundry for a few loads, there were still several days left on our trip, and we were about to settle into a pool day at
Disney's Contemporary Resort. I decided to test out using the self-service washers and dryers, and I could not have been more thrilled with the experience.
But before I tell you about that, let's get to the pricing. Please know that the pricing of anything can change over time, so this is not a guarantee, but an estimate. The price to use the self-service laundry facilities at Walt Disney World when we were here earlier this year was $3 per load for a washer and $3 per load for a dryer.
The great news is that you don't have to take a roll of quarters with you. You can use mobile payments, making your life so much easier. Also, Disney uses a service called the
LaundryView monitoring system, which you can access from their website, from the link above. This site allows you to see the different laundry rooms at your resort, including what dryers and washers are busy, and which are free. So you don't have to walk down to the room with all your loads, only to find the machines all busy. You can check ahead of time, and go when there is an opening.
Next, when you have a load in a machine, there is an app you can download when you are there that will tell you when your loads are done. This convenience means you don't have to be tied down to the laundry room for hours on end. I put in a load, started it, and then went to the pool to enjoy some downtime. Later the app told me it was time to move loads from the washer to the dryer. I could go do that, and be back at the pool in minutes!
BONUS TIP #1As you might guess, there is a vending machine there that sells single-load packets of laundry detergent and other related items.
BONUS TIP #2When looking at the
LaundryView website, it appears that
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside has 4 laundry rooms, and
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter has one. As an example, most rooms at Port Orleans Riverside have 8 washing machines and 12 dryers each.
BONUS TIP #3The laundry rooms are open 24 hours a day.
