Hi Ruth,
How exciting to be starting to plan a Walt Disney World vacation! I am happy to help walk you through the steps of purchasing theme park tickets and making theme park reservations.
You can
purchase Walt Disney World tickets online, and I think that this is the easiest way to do this. I suggest that you set yourself up first with a
My Disney Experience account. You will use this account to manage all of your Walt Disney World vacation details, from theme park tickets to hotel reservation to dining plans. When you purchase your tickets, they can be linked to your My Disney Experience account.
I am glad that you know about the need to make
theme park reservations. The reservation system is being updated and some big changes are coming in 2024; however, for 2023 you do generally need to still make theme park reservations. I suggest that you go to the website that I just linked as it can guide you through if you need to make theme park reservations. For instance, if you purchase a one-day ticket specific for a theme park, or if you are using the
4-Park Magic Ticket, you should not need to make a park reservation according to this website. However, for all other ticket types you will need to make a theme park reservation. You can check
availability for theme park reservations online. You can also
book theme park reservations online.
I know that this is a lot of information; Ruth, but I am hopeful that the links I provided can help guide you through the process of purchasing your theme park tickets and making park reservations. Please do feel free to come back to planDisney if we can further help you plan your magical vacation!
