Why ahoy there Aman, it's great to welcome fellow Canadians out on the seas!
Sounds like you're gearing up for your second Disney Cruise Line voyage after
your first cruise out to Alaska several years ago, and as someone who's lived and worked on ships for years you might find that sailing in the
Caribbean on board the larger
Disney Fantasy could feel very different from navigating the Pacific waters on the
Disney Wonder.
From my personal experience, sailing during the Atlantic hurricane season (which can take place between June and November) can vary a lot and there's really no predicting this early as to whether any particular itineraries will be affected before the development of storms; anything particularly notable may be found on
Disney Cruise Line's Weather Updates & Information page to update guests whose voyages may be at risk. It is important to be aware that itinerary diversions from originally scheduled
Ports of Call can and do happen from cruises during hurricane season each year as the officers and crew on board will do what they can to keep everyone informed as soon as a decision is made in the interest of everyone's safety. (For example, last August the Disney Fantasy changed a Western Caribbean itinerary visiting
Falmouth,
Cozumel and
George Town to an Eastern Caribbean voyage visiting
Tortola and
St. Thomas with additional days at sea to avoid rougher waters.)
Rest assured that having personally sailed through high winds and some pretty epic swells, you'll hear announcements from the bridge as well your Cruise Director if there are any changes on board like activities or Entertainment like
Deck Parties that may be affected due to the weather. Having your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App refreshed and ready to refer to is always handy either way, but with safety being the utmost priority it's highly unlikely that you'll be sailing into the path of hurricane weather. (In my opinion, sailing in that part of the world during August or September might be a good opportunity to look into travel protection for your trip just to be safe!)
Wishing you smooth sailing on your upcoming adventures,
Prince
